In school we learn that mistakes are bad, and we are punished for making them. Yet if you look at the way humans are designed to learn, we learn by making mistakes. We learn to walk by falling down. If we never fell down, we would never walk.
People who avoid failure also avoid success.
This quote certainly got me thinking. I appreciate it and am encouraged by it. We don’t need to be right all the time, we need to learn how to listen to get things right. Ultimately we are all learners and forever will be as our lives progress. So keep yourself always open to the new lessons to be learned.
I want to thank everyone who came out and supported the club at the Swap meet. We were able to have a successful day and most importantly say hello to many old friends.
I also want to take a second and applaud and thank everyone who came out to hike Mt Wrightson. This is the peak of the Santa Rita Mountains and an amazing summit. At 9,430 feet it feels as huge as it sounds. A special bravo to Nick, as this was his biggest hike ever and to Luci B and Rosalie for getting to the summit, which is no easy feet.
Riders please remember that having your lights charged and ready is mandatory for you to leave on the rides as is having a vest or jacket. We all know as soon as the sun goes down the temperature plummets. We certainly don’t need anyone getting sick because of poor clothing choices. So Lights and Vest/ Jackets are mandatory on every after school ride unitl further notice.
TRAINING PLAN
For the next two week we are going to be in transition. We are going to put our focus on moving in different ways while still being with teammates and hopefully getting to interact with different ones we typically don’t ride with.
We are going to keep active but more freely from the structure of disciplined training. I hope to make these next few weeks super fun and active, but not too demanding. But rest assured we will be physical.
Tuesday– Tumamoc Hill. Please come with sturdy shoes, a water bottle and jacket. This is will be old school fun with activities at different parts of the mountain. We will drive out to the hill, hike and work out together.
Wednesday– Road Rides. Endurace.
2:30 pm start time and 4:30 pm.
Some of you are able to get out the door sooner than others and I want to encourage some of you to do so. This allows you all to get home sooner and get to your homework. Please consult with me on Tuesday to see if this makes sense for you.
Thursday– Endurance Road Ride and Cross training work out.
I will post about the weekend later as Saturday is El Tour and I need to confirm with the amazing coaches about availability on Sunday. So please stay tuned.
