Just a small tweak in tomorrow’s programming. The Old Man Shootout will depart the clubhouse at 6:45 while Cara’s ride will be a touch later for 7am. Look forward to another day in the 80’s!

The weather may have presented its challenges, but the Team fought through the elements and had a wonderful race weekend up in Phoenix for the Cactus Cup. It was the first camp/race program for quite some time and all said, we came away with new experiences and friendships. We had many first time racers and the help, guidance and support of the more experienced riders was inspirational. Thanks once again to Ignacio, Daniela for the seamless organization. Nona and Tatone (Rosemary and Michael) once again fed us well, while parents Ken, Steve, Chris and Jim all pitched in. Good to see Sean, Jessica and little Declan cruising around too.
This week’s practice will be prioritizing fun and team camaraderie starting with a visit to popular Barrio Trails tomorrow. We are looking ahead to some more race opportunities with a great MBAA race in Prescott on April 10th, so let’s keep that momentum going.
Don’t forget that we need volunteers to help Colter and Nathaniel with Bike Club. Here is the sign up for helping;

I hope everyone enjoyed an amazing weekend. Blustery winds made the Saturday rides more challenging but the warm weather certainly made it enjoyable. We had a small contingent competing in Lake Havasu with Taryn and Damiano placing 2nd in their respective categories. Other places included Liam 4th, Tomas 6th, Alex 9th and Evan 10th. Lessons are always learned, especially after a setback like a crash. Great job everyone for their efforts and to Ignacio for leading the race weekend out west.
The Cactus Cup is coming up and this week we will look to taper down the intensity at practice to get ready. We also want to get a final count on who needs either body or bike transportation up to Phoenix for this weekend. Please let us know asap. I’ve emailed to parents a thorough check list on what to bring.
Don’t forget you must document a negative test within 72 hours of the trip. Timing your test for Tuesday or Wednesday best and the Pima County Centers have been a good way to get your free test. Results have been quick to be returned usually within 24 hours. I see the downtown location has been closed. Here is the link for the other two sites that require a reservation;

This month we continue our racing focus; firstly Ignacio is taking a small crew on March 6th to the MBAA race in Lake Havasu and then on March 12-14, The Cactus Cup. We are excited that so many team members (25!!) have signed up for this classic Arizona mountain bike race. We will continue to… Read more »
We had a wonderful camping trip to the magical Chiricahua Mountains last weekend. I happily borrowed some gear from our BikePacking program to comfortably negotiate the sub freezing night temperatures. Saturday we rode gravel bikes out and back over Pinery Canyon road to the town of Portal, AZ. The climbs were tough but the scenery… Read more »
New kits that have been earned by the team members have been circulating in public last week to favourable reviews. I think they really look sharp and there’s pride in wearing it. Practice attendance has been really stellar the past week, and the infusion of our newest members have given everyone a boost. Here are… Read more »
We had a busy weekend with athletes competing in a couple of events. White Tanks Park in Phoenix saw more MBAA mountain bike action on Saturday, while closer to home the FlapJack Time Trial was held on Sunday at Picacho Peak. It certainly was nice to have a small sense of normalcy with racing available…. Read more »
We will resume practice as per the schedule starting tomorrow Saturday, February 6th. Our most recent exposure with covid saw our team member ultimately testing negative. I look forward to seeing you bright and early for the Shootout and Cara’s ride. Coach .Allison will be on hand too. Those racing up in Phoenix we wish… Read more »
Dear Team, We are still awaiting test results from a recently exposed team member, so unfortunately nothing has changed and will force the cancelation of practice today February 4th. We will continue to be cautious and report again tomorrow about the status of Saturday’s practice. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
We will have to cancel practice today due to a recent revelation of a team member’s immediate exposure to a positive covid case. We will assess whether Thursday will be canceled upon test result information, hopefully by this time (2:30pm) tomorrow. We want to make sure that practice is the safest possible environment in these… Read more »
