Tell me why you like to ride your bike.

It’s good exercise and I have lots of friends on the team.

Think about the first time you rode with El Grupo, how have you changed in skills and character?

I’ve definitely become a lot more skilled at bike riding, obviously. On my first ride with El Grupo, I got a flat half way through the ride and didn’t even know simple things. I’ve learned a lot more about how to fix my bike. I’ve gotten faster too. When I started, I didn’t know anything. I’ve become more confident, not just with biking but outside of it, too. I’m definitely a lot more physically fit.

How does El Grupo challenge you?

It’s physically challenging but also mentally challenging, because when you’re at a race it’s nerve racking and hard to put yourself out there. It’s hard to get up in the morning. It’s really hard but totally worth it and fun.

How long did it take you to get used to the El Grupo schedule?

I’m still not used to it! I’ve definitely gotten better at waking up early. Once I’m here, I feel better.

What are your goals with El Grupo?

I want to do well at the high school mountain bike league for my short-term goal. And for long-term, I want to continue improving and maybe go to bigger races.

In your time with El Grupo, what have you gained?

Physical fitness

Friends

Technical skills on the bike

I can commute anywhere, too!
